    Your 1977 Robot Selection

Tomy's Mighty Max is a really neat toy that often gets mistaken for a Micronaut or a Shogun Warrior.

I wish more records were included with playsets, I think it adds a neat quality.

The Mighty Max speaks to me, as well.

The only robot I ever had was in the mid 80s and it a called Verbot. It seemed great on TV and/or print ads, but, of course, once I had it in hand, it wasn’t as user friendly. Maybe I was a year or two too young for it.

Rampart, this is Squad 51. How do you read?

I had one of those RC inflatable robots from Radio Shack. His feet were the RC part, and you blew up his body and inserted it into the rolling feet. I loved that thing, but I got more play just tossing him around and using him as a sidekick or bad guy in my role play.

For some reason, I had a fascination with these simple little wind up fellas-

Along with my accomplce David Hatfield, I used to open these up and steal them from our local Two Guys. Clearly, I had not learned my lesson from the previous year's Micronauts incident.

Mighty Max looks very much like he enforces martial law in a dystopian future.

Sorry, Moon Explorer, but you belong in Radio Shack.

For me it was all about the Shoguns, other robot toys at the time paled in comparison.

I totally had those! They are adorable!
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I'll admit that Mazinga was the first one I got. When I asked my parents why they picked that one for my birthday present, my mom said it was because he looked like he did the most things and that he was "cute". Gotta love moms.

I had a Mazinga (first issue). I thought he was the most striking (though Dragun was also cool). I'd love to reacquire one; it's good to know he's attainable.

That 'Moon Walker' seems a bit too old fashioned, even by 1970's standards.
I am more than machine. More than man. More than a fusion of the two.
