Kirk head?

So happy when I found Kirk I bought 2.
I never opened the Mirror Set but now I have to ask..
What happened to Kirk?

Is it a problem with the painting?
I have an extra classic Mego Kirk so they swapped costumes just like in the episode.

Now that new Kirk really does look like the Enemy Within lol.

Please are they going to get Kirk right ever again? Strike two if you count those wierdly painted heads from the
first time the Mirror Mirror one showed up

Some of the paint masking on certain figures is bizarre. Richie could have been improved substantially by better/updated eye paints, and Kirk is indeed "off."

It’s not a paint issue, I think the mold they’re using might be damaged or something. The head looks flatter at the top than the original or the EMCE releases.

The Spock head, on the other hand, looks fantastic. Both versions.

There is something off about Kirk, I personally thought it was the paint, but I'm not sure now. I hope they look at fixing it for their next Kirk.

Paint is involved, the eyes and eyebrows are off. And yes, the head is flattened.

I think the original Mego Kirk sculpt to still be the best likeness of young Shatner. The new cast is really off.

Y'know, as much as I love the original sculpt, maybe it's time for a new one for some of the Star Trek gang? A new Kirk sculpt would be pretty exciting.

I had the same observation when I first saw the Mirror set a couple of months ago. I broke down and get the Mirror set, along with green shirt Kirk, when they went on sale.

I didn't want the first Mirror, Mirror set, but I noticed the Kirk head was off too. The paint is at least better on the Green Shirt Kirk (at least on the one I have) and I like that the hair is brown.
