Anyone have an aluminum christmas tree growing up?

From what I've read they were hugely popular until the Charlie Brown Christmas special.

My family always had artificial trees but only the realistic looking ones. Well, they were sorta realistic anyways.

They are funky looking trees and seem to be making a bit of a resurgence the last several years. They went from being tacky and frowned on to being retro cool.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I can imagine that they are retro cool, now, but I haven’t seen them, at all. Where is the resurgence happening? Are they being sold at major retailers? If so, I’ve completely missed it.

As a kid I always wondered the appeal of them, I still don't get it, black Christmas trees too.

My grandma did. (see my profile pic) I never liked them though.

I liked the idea of the color wheel on them but not the aluminum tree itself.

We did. We had one in the dinning room in addition to the real one in the living room.

I appreciate it them for their funky 50s space age look but I've never wanted one or have any nostalgia for them because I never had one as a kid.

Oh yeah, but only for a few years… my wife and I both have silver trees in our childhoods which led us to building a modern Shiny Brite (natural tree shape in platinum silver) complete with some vintage atomic ornaments. Get your Sputnik on!

My family had an aluminum tree when I was a kid and last year I bought the same brand on eBay. It matches all my vintage Mego memories.aluminum-tree-2017.jpg

I never knew anybody who had them - people I knew growing up either had real ones or fake ones that looked like real ones...
