Happy 102nd birthday to Kirk Douglas

Today is Kirk Douglas' 102nd birthday. Kind regards to one of one of Hollywood's great leading men, and more importantly, a fine actor and producer.

I didn't warm to him immediately, but there're a handful of his films I can watch over and over. The more I view and learn about him, the more I enjoy and admire his work.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

Happy Birthday Kirk! So many great roles, I could never pick a favorite.
Fantastic Scene from an underappreciated movie starring Kirk Douglas in his favorite role. Screenplay by Dalton Trumbo. Co-Starring Gena Rowlands with Walt...

It used to have respect for Kirk. In recent times, I’ve read more and more about him. Anymore, I’m not sure he’s even a good guy. In 1954, when Natalie Wood was 16, he was accused of brutally raping her at something of a production office of his. She and her mother did not want to go to the hospital and report it, with Hollywood being what it was back then as they knew doing so would harm her career, but she was so badly hurt that they had no choice. Of course, the story died down quickly in 1954. Inexplicably, years later she was photographed with Douglas at an even or two. I can’t pretend to understand why or how Hollywood works or worked back then. Anyhow, though it’s wonderful to have a long full life, I’m no longer a fan of Kirk.

^I had never heard any of that. Even the thought of it is disturbing and disappointing. Man, Natalie Wood sure had a rough way to go, despite here success. Tragic.

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear that. I knew he philandered, but that's terrible.

Heard that story several years ago. Never 100% confirmed, but I’ve never watched one of his movies since and I always loved him.

Same here. I have no desire to watch his films any longer.

I don’t doubt that it’s true. Then and now, Douglas has much more power than Natalie Wood could ever imagine. Her career wasn’t helped at all by this scandal. The only thing that kept her relevant was her talent and beauty. Frankly, her career had years and years of low points after 1954.

And, that’s all I have to say about it.

Most Hollywood actors (and actresses) were really horrible people... The movie moguls were even worse.

Imagine EVERYBODY was Harvey Weinstein back then.

A few years ago I was reading a very popular Our Gang/Little Rascals director or something was a child molester who actually killed himself when he got caught --- I forgot his name but if you know Our Gang you would recognize it from their title credits.

edited to add - his name was Gus Meins
