Metal Man and UFO Adventure Sets

The Metal Man figures actually predate Star Wars but they couldn't have found a better time to exist. I remember being really fascinated with these characters and even buying the DC "Metal Men" comic as a kid thinking they were somehow related. I was disappointed...

I remember having one. I think he was green. Or maybe the blue guy.

I had the gold guy with the jet pack. He was an all-purpose robot for my Pocket Heroes to fight. And when I discovered the Doom Patrol, he was Robotman!

Hey! I still have Questar! I had no idea his name was Questar!

I used to really dig these guys. For some reason, I was a Metal Man guy and my brother was a Micronauts guy.

I have Questar as well and he survived fairly well over all of these years.

This is one of the many toy lines I "re-discovered" thanks to the Museum. My brother got them around that time when he was getting "too old for toys" but still not ready to give them up. So I got to play with them. I didn't know the name of the line but I was fascinated by the figures being metal. I'd benefit again from this phase in my brother's life when Micronauts were released. The phase lasted through high school

I had the saucer from this line and used it with my Micronauts. It was gray exterior with orange interior. I had an astronaut from this line, as well, but I don't see him in the ad. Seems like he was named "Major Mercury". The toys I had from this line were a lot of fun.

I was more of a Metal Men Astronaut guy, but I remember these UFO Metal Men at Kay-Bee.

I love the Metal Man line, especially my favorite, Major Mercury. Went and found a post I made back in 2011. This was before Photobucket was despicable.

^ I missed that thread back then. Very interesting, indeed!

Those side by side comparison shots make a pretty compelling case for the origin of that toy's design!
