    Ken Berry, RIP

Most of us probably remember Ken Berry from watching reruns of F Troop, but I'll always remember him from Disney films like Herbie Rides Again or the Cat From Outer Space.

    WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.

OK, this is the first I've heard of this (RIP Ken Berry), but weirdly--and no joke--all weekend I had the F-Troop theme song going through my head, singing it to myself in the car, etc. as I ran various errands or while I was working at the computer.

I loved F Troop as a kid and still do. I also remember him well from Mayberry R.F.D.
                Rest In Peace.

He really had quite a good TV and film career if you think about it. How many stars have 3 memorable shows? I know F Troop really didn't run that long, but it re-ran forever, and Mama's Family and Mayberry, RFD lasted good long runs.

                  RIP.

I don't know anything about his personal life, but he seemed like he had an Everyman kind of career. Went to work at something he loved, didn't seem to be too wrapped up in his own ego like so much of Hollywood, and made lots of people smile, finding a way to get paid for it. Good for him.

RIP. He always came off as a down to earth guy.

Our family went to see him in the theatre with Disney's "The Cat From Outer Space". We loved the movie so much that we got the View-Master,& even named our housecat "Jake". He was a comical actor.

Three well-received TV series, Disney films, and a lot of guest appearances: He had a good run...

I'm a pretty regular reader of Mark Evanier's blog. He has a short RIP posted for Ken Berry and I learned that Berry was a performer with Special Services while in the Army and his Sergeant during that stint was Leonard Nimoy.

                              ^Oh wow!

I think he was the one who said "CBS cancelled everything with a tree in it" when Mayberry, RFD, The Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, etc. were cancelled all at once, and apparently over someone telling an exec they were in charge of "The Country Broadcasting System".
