I had a number of opportunities fall my way yesterday which allowed me to attend the Supercon here in Louisville. It turned out to be one of the most enjoyable and heartfelt experiences I think I've ever had in this hobby. Not only was I able to meet Paul, Marty and Joel, but I was able to speak with them at length about the hobby and even topics outside of that.
They were engaging, personable, and incredibly supportive. I brought some of my repaints and both Paul and Marty were excited to see customs of their new product. It was invigorating to witness their energy and love for all things Mego. It was like meeting long lost family members. And honestly, they were the only reason why I wanted to attend this convention. I didn't care about the cattle call of celebrities or merchandise I surely did not need with Christmas upon me. So I showed up for this booth and it was worth every penny I spent. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything.
If you ever have the opportunity to meet these fine people who run Mego, don't pass on that chance. It's so reassuring to know the product you love so much is made by people with such good hearts. It doesn't get any better than that. Now if I can get to Mego Meet next year, I can finish my goal of meeting so many good folks here I've so earnestly wanted to shake hands with for many years.
