    Casting Dracula Today

We watched House of Frankenstein last night. I forgot how disappointing it is, but that's more because A&C nailed everything exact.

Carradine got me lamenting how great Lugosi would have been. Then I realized I couldn't think of a modern day equivalent of Bela.

So what would you do with Dracula, today? I'm thinking it would have to be like Bela, a theater actor with no heavy film background.

Hopefully someone better than Richard Roxburgh, though admittedly the fault may largely be the production design and writing. I like Bram Stoker's Dracula, but I was never convinced by Oldman's young count--his features are entirely too weak.

    Christoph Waltz? Too puckish?
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

Weird timing as I literally asked my kids yesterday who could play Dracula today and we couldn’t think of any of today’s actors.

I know! I think Armand Assante was the last name actor who could have pulled it off.

Travis Fimmel, Nicolas Cage, Tom Hiddleston, Rami Malek, Aubrey Plaza, Idris Elba, and the always delightful Keanu Reeves. Oh, and Jeff Goldblum!

I like the idea of Waltz. I also thought about maybe Cumberbatch or Mads Mikkelsen. Or... for a twist... Daniel Craig?

I would be interested in what Waltz might do. I wonder about someone like Michael Fassbender (since I first saw him playing the fallen angel on Hex).

I third or fourth Waltz. Hiddleston's not a bad idea either. Rami Malek might just make it interesting too.

I say James Purefoy for the role.

I could see Fassbender, Purefoy. Cumberbatch and Hiddleston, unsure.

Edit: From what is the Cumberbatch clip?

Too short as well, 5’ 7”, that would not be an imposing Dracula.

                        Great actor though...

It’s a scene from his old British series Sherlock Holmes. He’s saying get out. Someone doctored the scene, placed effects on eyes/teeth...pretty nice custom GIF...

Cumberbatch has been offered to play Dracula since 2012, I don’t think he’s interested.
