I used the naphtha shrink method, which requires no repainting. As pointed out in the thread, the new Mego body should make it even better.
I just reread your post and realized why I haven't been having any luck with Naptha. I didn't know you could leave the head in for days. I've been chickening out and pulling them after a couple of hours. I have a few of these in progress, the Naptha will be flowing tonight.

Those look amazing. The only thing I don’t like is the neck size. I wonder if there would be any way to do something about them?

Questions regarding the female necks: Would it be possible to trim/sand/buff away the neck--leaving a rounded head like classic Mego? Could this be done before or after soaking/shrinking?

I bet it could be sanded down with a dremel then buffed smooth

Lt. Moreau looks better because she has long hair and the neck doesn't stand out as much.

I did that with my Retro-Action Cheetah. It looks much better now.

Yes. And when you pull it out, apply serious pressure to try to compact it down as much as you can. You may flatspot the head a touch, but it can you that little bit extra you are looking for.

I'm going to have to try this. I've always shrunk the heads so they looked more proportional to the body.
I always wished they would've made a 9" Janice Rand. Everyone always uses the Dax figure from Trials and Tribbleations for her.

I have been wondering the same thing about the heads. Thanks for the info. your ideas are inspiring.

When you guys heat up the plastic for various transplants, do you ever use a hair dryer? Would that work?
