    Hawk the Slayer

    It is glorious.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I remember watching that late night on CBS back in the 80s. It was like someone had taken notes at one of our D&D nights and turned it into a movie.

It's always been one of my favourites. I have the DVD, the Blu-ray, and even the soundtrack CD and the novelization!

Such a wonderfully awful movie. Jack Palance was the best part of the whole movie.

I do really like the movie. Saw bits and pieces of it at first over the years, then started watching the whole thing. I had it on DVD at one point in time. This and The Sword and the Sorcerer. I also watched Dungeon Master recently, "Nothing can penetrate this barrier, it has the strength of a million souls, power of the dead."

I un-ironically genuinely like the movie. It's actually well done for it's tiny budget. I think it also makes a better Dungeons and Dragons movie than the official ones we got many years later.

Jeremy Irons saw Palance's performance in Hawk and said "hold my beer!" . It's low budget but not camp, so i can totally understand having affection for it.

I got it on Rifftrax because it's a nice combination of an entertaining movie now combined with some laughs.

Palance definitely chews some scenery but he never falls into camp or hams it up and yeah, Irons, in Dungeons and Dragons, ugh. That whole movie is a train wreck.
