Reptilicus...The greatest unintentional comedy ever made.

There are bad movies. There are movies so bad they're good.

    Then there is Reptilicus.

This Danish Kaiju film from 1961 has it all.

Raw meat that eventually turns into the monster.

Bad English dubbing over actors speaking bad English.

A sock puppet monster who eats a paper cutout of a man.

    Animated monster vomit.

    A horrible Danish comedian.

An office with a fish tank of electric eels in the hallway for no apparent reason.

A five minute Danish tourism commercial smack in the middle of the film.

All of this, and IT. IS. AWESOME.

Go and watch Reptilicus. You will waste 90 minutes of your life, but it's totally worth it.

I watched it every time it was on Super-Host, bless him. Every time. My dad would just be groaning at how awful it was, but I loved it. As a kid, I was confused at first by the dubbing, I didn't realized they were Danes.

I remember being excited about the name, then totally non-plussed when I saw it on a monster marathon when I was ten. He's a marionette!

My high school friend's mom was Danish, so she loved that movie because that comedian was a big deal for her growing up.

The eels were there for the sole purpose of setting up the bit with the idiot custodian. Cannot believe it took MST 10 seasons and a reboot to get to this one.

Yeah, but I'm glad they finally did, it's great.

Reptilicus is right up there with the Giant Claw and the Mexican made marionette bird puppet, but it's a classic that I enjoy watching.

I first saw it back in the 80s, I think as part of Channel 31's Creature Feature season... Once seen, never forgotten!
