I personally don't think any sequels lessen the ranking of any original. However I do understand the dilemma.
The worst culprits are certainly the Rambo series. Either people have not watched the original in a long time or simply confuse its message with those of the sequels.
The Matrix feels a bit of a pinch to a degree but I think most genre loving folks look past the sequels.
On the opposite end of the "argument" I think Highlander actually benefits from having such a terrible sequel. It is almost common knowledge that Highlander 2 is awful and this leads folks to praise the original (whether they have seen it or not).If I had only spent a tenth of the time studying Physics that I spent learning Star Wars and Baseball trivia, I would have won the Nobel Prize.Comment
