Sheesh...$6.87! Seems like those figures were relatively expensive back then. Obviously, they were more than most Megos, but still well under $10.

Today, I’d be hard pressed to get lunch for $6.87 or less.

Steve and his gang were always Christmas items for me. I don't think I got Bionic anything unless Santa was involved.

^ I just somehow remember or still have the idea in my head that they are not figures that you casually asked for while taking the usual casual stroll through the toy department. It was something planned out.

All of my 12” Star Wars figures were Christmas gifts.
One of the great things about Mego’s and 3 3/4 inch figures, for me, was that they were priced where I could get them as impulse purchases...that’s not to say I wasn’t planning it out.

Yeah, that's an almost $30 toy these days. Definitely a special purchase, birthday, Christmas, Hanukkah, etc. I know that's when I got mine. Of course I did have friends who were a tad more well off than me who had ALL the Bionic figures. And all the Big Jim figures. And all the... you get the idea.

I feel like this is a figure you could convince Mom to buy not just for play, but for all the things he could help you lift around the house.

                Christmas 1975:

                action figure
                movie viewer
                transport and repair station
                board game

                Santa knew I was obsessed

I remember once as a kid having my Steve team up with my 12" scale figures of the Hulk, C-3PO, R2-D2 and Superman to take down my 12" Darth Vader.

That was a fun day filled with Bionic Action!

I got the Bionic Woman and 2 of her dresses for my 11th birthday, and the Bionic Beauty Salon that Christmas.

I wanna say it was about 1984, I had my first job washing dishes on the weekend at a greasy spoon on the lake and I passed an old Ben Franklins going outta business and I bought 6 of the Steves for a dollar each. It was the second version with the grip and the steel girder, silver arm.
