Now you can actually take a tour of the Starship Enterprise!

No, you didn't read that wrong. Here's what it means:

A man named Ray Tesi took over the lease from Vic Mignogna of Stage 9 Studios where Star Trek Continues was filmed, and is now going to be having an Open House! That means a weekend of walking around the sets! And get this....FREE ADMISSION!! If you live anywhere near Jacksonville FL or Kingsland Georgia, and you're a Star Trek fan, this is for you!! And Vic will be there, no doubt w/ stories about making the sets and filming the series! This is a dream come true for all Trekkies! I am trying to make this happen for me, but 1) I don't know at this point whether or not I can and 2) if I do, I really don't want to go alone. Is this something any of you would be interested in? Please reply to this thread, or PM me and let me know!!

Yeah, it does, but sadly, I don't think it's gonna happen. I just hope Ray and Vic are planning on making this an annual event. And I find it really hard to believe on a board full of Star Trek fans that no one besides Lonnie was even remotely interested in this!

I've been to the other one in Ticonderoga NY and it fantastic. To sit in the Captain's chair on the bridge is too cool.

I think it sounds awesome, but I know getting away will be a ****. I did get to go to the Star Trek Experience (or whatever it was called ) with my son a few years ago, and we got to walk the bridge of the Enterprise-D -- the TOS bridge was part of the second tour going to other cities -- and because no one was paying attention and there were no instructions posted -- I sat in the Captain's chair while he sat in the first officer's.

I'm giving this thread a big fat BUMP b/c I'M GOING!!! That's right, I'm going to Kingsland GA, to walk around the sound stage where Star Trek Continues was filmed, see Vic Mignogna (again! YAY!), and also make-up supervisor Lisa Hansell and wardrobe supervisor Ginger Holley. I can't wait!

I'd absolutely be into this, but I don't live in the area, if it ever came to the Boston area, I'd be checking it out.

Well, this isn't a touring set. This is an 18,000 sq. ft. standing sound stage in Kingsland GA. If you have ever watched an ep of Star Trek Continues, (and if you haven't you need to check it out!), you'd see that this isn't just the bridge; it's the long corridor w/ inter-connected sets like the transporter room, Captain's quarters, sick bay, briefing room, auxiliary control, engineering, etc. I asked Ray Tesi (via YouTube) if this was going to become an annual event, and he said it depends on how this first one goes. If they get a good turnout, most likely they'd do it again next year. If they don't get a lot of people showing up, this may be the one chance anyone gets to see these amazing sets for FREE! The only other choice is the one in Ticonderoga, which is not free and harder to get to as they are not close to a municipal airport. I got a great deal on my flight and an even better deal on my hotel. So if you're thinking of taking a vacation, and want to see these fantastic sets, this could be the chance of a lifetime!

Sweet! We should meet up and go out to dinner! You won't be able to miss me. I'll be wearing a Vic Mignogna Captain Kirk t-shirt and giving out STC wristbands! See ya there!

I'm hoping to make a day trip out of this as I'm just a few hours away but there are a lot of things going on that weekend. My son and son-in-law are interested too.

I really hope we can pull it off.
If I had only spent a tenth of the time studying Physics that I spent learning Star Wars and Baseball trivia, I would have won the Nobel Prize.
