Oh boy, it's "grim and gritty!" I was looking forward to this show before I watched this. This is not the Titans I fell in love with (George Perez / Marv Wolfman comics). I hate to think what the kids who grew up with the cartooons will think when they see this. At least the DC movies seem to be lightening up with Shazam, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman. I guess DC's streaming service didn't get the memo.

clearly not aimed to appeal to the kids. visuals look good, not sure how I feel about how dark it is.

This is Marvel Netflix envy pure and simple. The thing is characters like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, etc. have been dark in the comics for decades. Titans? Mature themes, sure at times. This dark and gritty? No.

Why not adapt something that actually would work with this treatment?

My 16 year old is trying to convince me otherwise, but I have almost zero interest in this now.

I was eager to watch this series. I was not expecting the F word, to be sure. I was eager to see a darker portrayal of Raven than we saw in the classic Perez/Wolfman comics. And that would have been an interesting contrast for the team members, as it was originally intended. I think it is way too early to pass judgement on Robin's behavior, not knowing the plot and motivations, but I am concerned. As always for me, it is a wait and see.
I post in thy general direction!

Read a short article about this trailer from CBR.com and they point out the alley scene is "strikingly reminiscent of a scene that happened during Teen Titans Season 5’s “Go!,” an episode that revealed what each member of the team’s life was like just prior to the Titans forming… which is the entire premise of Titans."

I think the alley scene with Robin works better like this (with no F-word or mentioning Batman by name): It starts at the 56 second mark. I tried to get the link set to start there automatically but it's not working right from the post.

Sorry, Robin was raised a lot better than that. More pay tv money saved. Thanks OP!!
