    Black Widow

Can't believe I never made her before; just a bigger DC fan, I guess. The classic version is pretty basic, especially when you can steal the stingers and the belt from a Marvel Legends figure. The stinger/wristbands posed a challenge, though. They fit the Mego wrists fine but wouldn't go over the hands, especially once they were gloved. I wanted to avoid cutting the wristbands if I could, so I had to sew the sleeves, pull the glove part onto the hand, then pop the hand out of the wrist socket, slide the stinger down the sleeve to the wrist, then pull the sleeve up the arm, pop the hand back into the wrist, and sew the sleeve on at the shoulder. after that, the hardest part was actually getting the hair to do what I wanted; my respect for hairdressers has increased considerably...

Thanks! Boots and legs (and torso, actually) are all one piece. My usual female boot style is to shape the regular Mego foot with tape. A piece is wrapped around the foot so some hangs over the end of the toes and makes a rectangle. Then fold the edges over and in to make a triangle, add a few more pieces of thin tape to pull it up at the proper angle and bulk it up a bit (snipping the point of the triangle down so it isn't so pointy and won't catch on material). I cut a piece of a Christmas ornament hanger, cover it with a little tape, and tape it securely to the heel and bend it in. I then slide the boot up over the foot and pull the wire through the seam at the back as I pull it up, and then position the wire properly once it's through. A little cone of matching material (again, just taped) cut the right length and filled with some glue stick slides on for the heel. Sometimes I need to stick another small piece of ornament wire up into the heel for a little added stability.

That is really brilliant....amazingly industrious creativity right there, especially with the boot description. Wow.

Really nice work. Also like the boots. Never cared for booty style boots on custom figures...especially when the boots/shoes are essential to the characters look.

Wasn't sure if I was going overboard with the boot instructions, but I always like hearing about how customizers do their thing. I figured I'd share since it came up. In case people haven't noticed, I like talking about this sort of thing...

Incredible!!! The whole thought process behind the boots and the gloves is mind boggling.... And to still look so megoesque is fantastic! Thanks for sharing your process!
