First Look: Mego Action Jackson figure

Thanks to David Lee at Cast-A-Way Toys, we have our first glimpse of the new Mego product and what a fitting one, the first 8″ Mego himself, Action Jackson!

As the owner of the Action Jackson brand, Cast-A-Way toys licensed the character to Mego Corporation for this relaunch and received a sample of AJ in advance and graciously agreed to share it with the MegoMuseum.

So, without further adieu, here is what you can expect to be landing at Target stores at the end of the month.

David says he’s suitably impressed but judge for yourself!

WOW, this really is a Type 3 Mego. The tiniest details rendered on the face paint go beyond being Mego-like, and are utterly and definitively Mego. Mind-blowing.

Shouldnt that be velcro replaces the snap and the buttons disappeared? And was Vintage AJ ever sold with a Gat?

Did they get rid of the rubber bands?
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

          It's an encouraging beginning.

Looks cool. I would love too see a shot of the back and see if this is the Doc body with the screws. Also would love to see what the copyright stamp on the neck looks like.

No, apparently there wasn't time to do everything.

I'm pleased, I hope to get one. I like head sculpt and the inclusion of an accessory.

Amazing. I simply cannot wait to get this. Love the head-sculpt. It's surreal to think that by the end of this month I'll be able to pick up a new Mego Action Jackson figure in stores. Thanks to Marty and everyone else involved.

This is the new figure I am most interested in. A brown haired Action Jackson with the original body style was the first MEGO figure I ever got. I still remember buying him, the pilot uniform and the helicopter backpack with money I received as a gift. Very excited to find them in a store after seeing the tv commercials.

Darn. Looks like the left hip still doesn't fit in the socket. The one reason I only bought one of those bodies. That's gonna make purchasing multiples like I was hoping harder.

What about the AJ stuff that FTC sells? Will they have to take it down?

Well, Mego doesn't actually own the license for Action Jackson right now, so I would think not at the moment. Plus FTC doesn't actually market any of their stuff as 'Action Jackson.'
