Cemented in the cells of my brain is the smell of the vinyl used for the Ideal Batman swim ring I got before I could swim. I was so obsessed with the smell and texture that I'm pretty sure I nibbled a hole in his ear and that was that. I love pool float toys! From this selection, I'll take the canoe. Half the fun is trying to see if you can actually stay on long before tipping over into the water.
I was a huge Tarzan fan in the 70's, loved all the classic movies, the wild jungle animals, and when I first saw the mego Tarzan in the stores he was a quick buy. I'm happy to say Tarzan is still a favorite of mine today.
^ YES! Russ Manning is so, so, good. Such clean linework.
And yes, kids in the 70s went crazy for Tarzan!! Not only was there the Filmation cartoon, but there was of course Mego, a Weebles playset, and a Marvel Comic series. The old black and white show was re-run after school, and I was pretty obsessed. Pretty much every kid in the neighborhood would practice their Tarzan howl while swinging from our rope swings in the yard. If only the Greystoke film had landed about 7 years earlier than it did; it probably would've been a bigger hit.
