Brewed tea with sugar added and poured over ice. It’s pretty sweet, even though I was born and raised in northwest Alabama I can’t drink it but EVERYONE here does.Comment

It's pop for me as well.
And our family has converted to Coke Zero since my daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. We drink a lot less pop, but when we do, it's Coke Zero, or Cherry Coke Zero.
We were big sweet tea drinkers, and honestly we haven't found a sugar substitute we like in bulk. We tried Splenda, and didn't take to it. But Wal-Mart around here sells a calorie and carb-free sweet tea from Milo's by the gallon, and that's some good stuff!

This is an observation I carry around at the front of my mind and it plays right into this subject. Things were a lot more interesting when one could travel the country and find each place to have little flourishes here and there that made it distinct from some other region. Now, almost everything is homogeneous. I go places now and it all looks the same (Panera Bread, Walmart, Lowe's, Old Navy, Olive Garden, Barnes and Noble) and all the same stuff is on radio and TV. About the only distinctiveness left is going someplace where they still call it "pop" and not "soda" (or whatever sameness we all are moving toward).Comment

We have Ale-8-One in our area, bottled in nearby Winchester, Ky. Similar to Skee (from Western Kentucky), made famous in the Kentucky Headhunters' song "Dumas Walker".
Ale-8 is kind of like a cross between Sprite and Mountain Dew. It's not something I drink often, but it's refreshing every once in a while. Their new Cherry Ale-8, however, is VERY good.

^ Ski is the best! There is or was a bottling plant in southern Illinois that still made it with cane sugar and bottled it in glass bottles. About a decade ago, they even would ship it to me here in NYC. One batch, the owner sterilized some bottles from the 60s and sent those filled with Ski.
(the bottle on the right is from the 1960's... the bottle on the left is what they were, still, using a decade or so ago)

Big B Barbecue is sliced pork barbecue in a big glass jar. It’s pit smoked, etc. It may not sound appetizing, but it’s pretty good stuff. It’s regional, of course and goes quite well with some Grippo’s and Ski.
And, Big B does sell barbecue sauce. I’m not sure it’s their major seller, though, it must do ok since they’ve been selling it for decades.
