I'm thinking of learning how to use zbrush for digital sculpting, but the actual software is pretty expensive, so I'm wondering what peoples opinions on it is before I go down that path. I have access to a bunch of online training through work, so it mostly just a matter of determination.

Hello. I have Painter 3D. which I believe is either the fore runner to Zbrush or at least works on the same principal. Generally I didn't like it. Its okay as a post effect like if you want to do damage to a 3d model ( like make a car object file show collision damage) but difficult for sculpting.
There is a 3d program called "Blender" out there that is free and pretty powerful I hear. Its more friendly to those that have a CAD or drafting experience which is probably more in your wheelhouse. -
Yeah, I've played with Blender before, but it just didn't click with me. Maybe I should try again.Comment

Are you able to send what you have created in these programs to someone who can actually print them?Comment
