What do you all think of this movie? It's been quite a while since I have seen it so I just wanted to get sort of a pulse on what people thought of it.

I give it AAAAA+++++ on it's look --- Ape makeup and costumes are a wonderful homage to the original movies.
Not a fan of going way off the track for basic premise and story ... The Planet of the Apes should always be Earth ... Also, this movie felt too confined and finite (like they we in The Land of the Lost)
Not a huge fan of Walberg but at least Burton didn't get Johnny Depp
All said and done, I liked it --- but didn't love itComment

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Comment

I liked it. there were flaws certainly but what movies doesn't have flaws. I liked it when it came out and I like it now, just not in the same class as the original 5 movies. I never understood the hate this movie garnered. the makeup effects were a perfect homage to the originals. story was good, Walberg was Meh! I liked the ape characters though, I thought they all did a great jobComment

I saw it once in the theatre and thought it was garbage. Having said that, I would give it another shot.Expectation is the death of discovery.Comment

I liked it. As stated, the ending was stupid, but that's truly the ONLY thing I don't like about it. I thought Helena Bonham Carter and Michael Clarke Duncan rocked their respective parts. I'll still watch it if I'm flipping through channels and find it on the tube because it is a good movie for chilling out sprawled out on the couch.Comment

Wahlberg basically came off as a punk from Boston, which he is. But I still like the movie and I liked his character tooComment

In my opinion, Rick Baker's prosthetic ape make-up was the only good thing about Burton's POTA.PUNY HUMANS!Comment

I really wish they would have stuck to the original plot and built on it. With today’s technology artificial intelligence, terrorists, nuclear weaponry, genetic engineering, etc. it could be quite within ones imagination to have Taylor, Cornelius, Zira, Zaius and all, updated with today’s topics and issues, with experimentation with ape/human dna engineering and a nuclear holocost, that wipes nearly everything out. Then enter Taylor’s crew back to earth. Could be played now by someone like The Rock. I think another redo would be just terrific as Batman begins was for Batman fans.Last edited by hobub; May 15, '18, 8:50 AM. Reason: typos and redundancies (typical for me les't I proofread)Comment
