    Action Comics No. 1000

So who's getting any or all of the different covers?

My comic store is opening at 11pm tonight for a midnight sale for them. I'm probably in for the regular cover and the 60's cover.

I pre-ordered 2 copies, one the blank variant I will commission a sketch cover on at some upcoming convention, and the other was the Steranko cover.

I'm getting the 80s cover by Josh Middleton. It evokes the movies AND Super Powers era, so it's in my personal "Golden Age".

All the "regular' variants are here. There are store specific variants as well.

Those are really nice. Not buying, but if I were, Steve Rude, Mike Allred, Middleton, and Steranko are my favs.

I really like that 1940s style by Michael Cho. Probably because it reminds me a lot of Darwyn Cooke's style and with Darwyn gone, it's cool to see something in his style.

Cho is who DC chose to take over the covers for the Silver Age reprints and omnibus' covers after Darwyn passed becase his style in complimentary to Cooke's in aesthetics.

For example. here's Cho's cover to the Justice League of America in the Silver Age Vol. 3...

compared to Cooke's covers for Vol. 1 and 2...

Cho first came to my attention a couple years ago when one of the local comics shops was going under and was selling off the promo posters they had and I saw a Doctor Strange poster by hum that I snapped up. I've been keeping an eye on his stuff since then. He has done a lot of illustration work outside of comics and some webcomics but I think he's only done covers& promo poster art for Marvel and DC, I haven't run into any interior work that I can recall.

I am very impressed with what I see there. Looks like DC made a good choice with Cho to keep that vibe going on the Silver Age Covers. Thanks for the info!

Cho's stuff is top notch. I love this World's Finest Ominibus image in particular.

I picked up the Allred 60s cover, with all the weirdo goodness like Muto, Bizarros, Super-Horse, etc. And go-go checks!!!
My lcs had a ton of each cover, and they run a lot of sales, so later on I'll probably get the Rude & Steranko. At $8 a pop I can't afford them all at one time.

I ordered the 40's cover. the Wartime cover really jumps out at me. I think I will frame it and hang it in my man cave. Paid a little more than cover price to get it on ebay but at least I don't have to go looking for it

Went for the standard cover and the 1930s variant.
