Mego was going to make Superhero Vitamins, seriously.

When we published our list of the “Top Ten Mego Superhero items that never got made” recently, we forget to mention one of the more interesting rumors that swirl around the World’s Greatest Toy Company. The concept that Mego was developing “World’s Greatest Superhero” vitamins was confirmed by the late Neal Kublan when interviewed by…

I always wondered where some of this "Super Heroes Vitamins" artwork from Continuity Studios (Neal Adams and Dick Giordano) originated from. Isn't there a Woman's magazine ad for the vitamins out there? I recall seeing one.

I remember having spiderman vitamins in the 70s. Doing a google search, I guess they were made by Hudson.

You're right Chris, these actually saw limited distribution.

Wonder Woman collectors site has all the info.

I guess the big piece to the puzzle is we now know this was Mego!

I assumed Superman had a separate vitamin deal, and that's why he wasn't in the artwork I had seen before (which is all on that WW site). But it was because they didn't want kids trying to emulate Superman! Which is the (untrue) urban legend of why the Human Torch isn't on the 70s Fantastic Four cartoon!

I had those Spidey vitamins too.

I thought I remembered taking these. I knew about Batman and Robin, thought they might have been on their own. At the time you were given the choice of these or Flintstones vitamins, these won out all the time.

We'd all have grown up healthier! I remember taking the Spider-Man vitamins, and despite their odd, vitaminy taste, I forced myself to love them, because, hey, Spider-Man.

That Neal Adams/Continuity artwork makes me weak in the knees.

Wow, neat, I don't remember those at all.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

When I read this, suddenly I remembered the taste of the Spidey vitamins. Yeesh, they were pretty horrible. Very iron-y. I remember going back to Flintstones pretty quickly.

That would've been perfect if they were Iron Man vitamins! Oh, the iron-y!
