Good points Makernaut! Especially with Robin Wright. Good precedent for Wiig.

I think Wiig will be brilliant. I can totally see her playing the character like how Greg Rucka recently wrote. I see a tragic friendship souring between WW and Cheetah.

Wiig will get the opportunity to show even more range to her repetoire than never before. Embodying brilliance as a human alter ego, and werebeast as theatrical villain, I'm certain her character's duplicity will be written to be relatable by the audience. She'll veritably look like a mythical Cheetah monster of demigod proportions; inwardly fighting a curse, and outwardly fighting her bloodthirsty canabalistic urges, amidst a specific 80s political and sociological era. Surely, she'll be directed to pleasantly scare the bejeebers out of all of us with every snarl, puncture and scratch. Considering any exotic, big cat attack against humans, really, she can't fail: This movie will probably be quite the wild ride.

Would love to have been a fly on the wall when the studio weasels were trying to decide..

              It's Kristen Wiig, she's great!

              But she's too old!

              Back and forth 1000 times.

Glad she got the role, she'll give a great performance until the CGI takes over.

                Kristen Wiig is 44.

Robert Downey Jr is 52. Mark Ruffalo is 50. Jeremy Runner is 47. Samuel L Jackson is 69...and so on...

My point...women get more of a bum rap on the age thing...

I found a nude of her and IMO, she is going to have to bust her *** to get in shape for a role like this. Lots of gymnastics type stuff.

Gender-related ageism in casting a female antagonist wouldn't be an issue if they took a Paris Hilton approach over an Alexis Carrington Colby for a Priscilla Rich aristocrat/debutante type.

If they went with a Hilton approach, they could cast the hot new starlet rather than a choice like Wiig which is the traditional "elder villain".

That approach would've been my preference.

That said: I'm open to see what they do with Wiig, despite my take on Wiig being that she has shown me so little charisma that I consistently find her co-stars more memorable.

First Look at Kristen Wiig in Wonder Woman 1984

                      http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/new...der-woman-1984

Nothing in the few images in the slideshow hints at her Cheetah persona, but you can see it is clearly set in the 80s.

^Very Kingdom Come. Although others have pointed out she now resembles her own doppleganger, Power Princess from the Squadron Supreme!

That is a SPECTACULAR teaser poster. If the movie is half as colorful in the literal sense, they will have me. Me likes the bright and shiny
