lol I'll confess to watching "10 to Midnight" many times as a teen because of nudity. I saw part of it again a few weeks ago on cable and was unpleasantly reminded of how crude, gratuitous, and graphic it is.

I knew I was forgetting something big. Road Warrior was rented a lot. And Creepshow mentioned above. Hell, any King stuff from back then always worked for me.

And yeah, Heavy Metal wasn't available back then.

Re-watched that today. Good bit of Cannon sleaze there.

Good idea. I'll have to give this some thought, but there are some spectacular recommendations so far.

Okay, I'm sure I left out some obvious ones. Everyone has different video store experiences. And I haven't even seen all of these, but these are the boxes I remember having the most visibility at multiple rental stores:

                And some honorable mentions:

Creepshow (First VHS I ever rented)
Dawn of the Dead (Really, didn't just about all of us discover Romero through home video?)
Amazon Women on the Moon (Such a great tribute to home video... I remember my video store giving me the display mobile to hang in my room)
                Piranha (gotta have something Corman)

Used to have the Sword and Sorcerer movie poster. Gotta find that one I Spit On Your Grave was a big renter at the store...and we had the "Big Box" VHS. Wish I would have grabbed some of the "Big Boxed" stuff before it closed up.

HA! This reminds me of the Channel 47 "Italian Movie" that aired every Saturday at 1 am that EVERY Toronto kid watched regardless of our knowledge of the language.

No wonder Don Quixote was all over Long Island's video rental shops...freakin' thing was made right over in Bethpage.

Pretty much anything from this site would qualify. Prepare to spend some time exploring if you haven't ever checked these guys out before.

BTW. Does anyone remember having to put down a $50 or $100 deposit to rent a tape?
If I had only spent a tenth of the time studying Physics that I spent learning Star Wars and Baseball trivia, I would have won the Nobel Prize.
