Restring type 2 body as type 1

I just got some CTVT bodies and they are unacceptable.

How hard is it to just restring them as type 1s? I am about to try.

    Any reason not to?

    There's a couple of approaches here: https://www.megomuseum.com/custom/ctvtfix.shtml

I like the earlier CTVT India bodies for the second method that I outlined. The later ones like in the first method that Jason uses have a really goofy pelvis that I don't like to use.

Thanks, EMCE Hammer. I’ve reviewed both those methods. They both look kinda overly involved.....on second glance at the legs, it looks they’d go into each other if I strung it like a type 1.

I’m going to try maybe removing the over tight bands and simply replacing them with type 1 elastic.

The bodies look ok, they’re just overly tight.

I've restrung an original Mego T-2 in the same way a T-1 is strung with no issues... You should be able to restring the CTVT bodies with no issues.

Yes, I discovered that last night when I disassembled one of them. I have new respect for the Type 2s because they’re designed for a kid to rotate the arms over and over without breaking them....the legs too, it seems.
