    Yet another Fonzie Prototype

Proof that Mego really scrambled to get the Fonz out to stores for Christmas 1976 is the staggering amount of early takes on the figures that can be found in wishbooks, like this one from Aldens.

The original word is Fonzie was slated to be a 12" figure, then scaled down to 8" and judging from this photo, it's mid transition!

Would the rescaling account for the nicely-detailed quality of the Fonz sculpt? Because the other 8" Happy Days crew are not great.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

Fonzie went through several fathers. They worked hard to nail him.

The other guys weren't as laboured upon.

Cool pic. The final figure was amazing and didn't looked rushed, so Mego really pulled things together quick from this pic.

Interesting a 12 inch Fonzie might have been cool, but not for the other characters.

I thought the released 8 inch Happy Days were okay, but only Fonzie had the best sculpt
plus the thumbs up lever on his back.

I didn't collect Happy Days then or now, but if I did, I most likely would have just got
          the Fonzie and his motorcycle.

That Fonz sculpt looks pretty good. I wonder why they decided to resculpt it. I guess I can't think of an example of Mego rescaling a head so maybe a new sculpt was cheaper. I think it looks superior to the released figure.
Expectation is the death of discovery.

I made my own 12 inch mego Fonz a while back. He looks exactly like the 8 inch version, but needs a new jacket. Almost got a perfect custom jacket but it didn;t fit.
