    SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch

I watched this live and honestly, it feels like I should post this under the Scifi section here.

Watching both Falcon rockets land at almost the same time seem amazing to me. Also Elon launched his own Telsa roadster into a helocentric orbit(likes the planets are) around the sun and should last several thousands of years out there.

Awesome. Everything about the launch was phenomenal.
Even down to the small details like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "Don't Panic" on the car's dashboard.

The landing of those boosters reminds me so much of Thunderbirds

So, so great. This is what spaceflight progress should look like. Science Fiction becoming reality. Those rockets landing simultaneously are so perfect, it looks fake, but it's real.

We watched this at work yesterday, a bunch of us hunkered down around one monitor watching history in the making at the same time the future arrives. Gotta admit, the whole thing brought a couple of tears to my eye.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

And it's The Falcon. I wonder how fast it'll do the Kessel run?

Starman in the Tesla reminds me so much of the opening of the Heavy Metal film (intentional?), I love it!

Yeah, just like 1950's space movies and maybe like a Twilight Zone too.

                        --------

I could hear Sammy Hagar kick in when that car was seen in orbit, and all the other songs from Heavy Metal. They could do a live-action version of that film now.

Ha! First thing I thought of.
