John Williams' Superman is my favorite. The others would be Lone Ranger theme, Batman: The Animated Series, and XMen 90's toon.

I have the DC comics 75th Anniversary CD, so much great stuff on it, though missing the 2000s Teen Titans theme.

Am I alone here in preferring the "darker" first-season Superfriends theme?

If we are just talking superhero films/tv shows then my answer is John Williams' Superman score by a looooong stretch. I remember watching the film in the theatre when it first came out and man, that music just gave me goosebumps (still does).

I gotta classify the Batman TV theme in it's own category. It's not a symphonic polished masterpiece like Williams' Superman, but it transcends the show and medium for which it was written. Any little kid knows "na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Bat - Maaaaan!" That's a pretty powerful theme legacy that has defied Elfman, Walker, Goldenthal, Zimmer, and anyone else who will ever likely take a musical swing at the Bat.

that's right there with Hefti's Bat-Theme as far as defining a superhero for generations. It still sticks with the character.

Williams Superman theme is his best work. Yes, better than Star Wars and Raiders.

The Super Friends themes (all of them) still conjure that childhood thrill I had reading DC comics and watching the heroes on TV and in movies. They live beyond the actual show to be my theme song for the Bronze Age in many ways.

The 60s Batman music is fantastic and fits the show perfectly. I also love the 66 movie theme by Nelson Riddle. More dangerous and urgent, but still of the same vibe as the show.

All the Grant-Ray Lawrence themes are fun and perfect for the kooky pop era of Marvel. When they played a version of the Spidey theme over the Marvel opening during Homecoming, I nearly sat up out of my chair and cheered.

The Adventures of Superman TV theme is iconic as well. Superman has no shortage of great music, including the Shirley Walker STAS theme.

The music she composed, based on Danny Elfman's themes, for both BTAS and The Flash live-action series are still favorites. Perfectly complimented and enhanced those shows every episode.
