    Star Wars Holiday Special

I'm probably just late to the party, because apparently this was uploaded last year, but this is the highest quality version of this I've ever seen!

    Enjoy, I guess?

On one hand, yes, it is truly bad. But on the other, it's really no worse than any other 70s comedy variety show. At least it has an actual budget in comparison to the Legends of the Superheroes specials. The Boba Fett cartoon is also pretty decent.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

        Yep. Yes, and yeah.

And it is better than the prequels. Why?

One millionth the budget, and didn't insult the source material (mostly done as parody, so it really couldn't).
First chance to see teh extended universe.
        Boba Fett Cartoon
        Deleted scenes from Star Wars
        Chewbacca's home world paintings/design
        No crappy CGI
Stopping Empire from harming Chewbacca's family is far more interesting than Federation Trade and politicadisputes.
Wookie dialogue was better than Anakin / Amidala dialogue
Meant too be watched and disposed of as opposes to Star Wars cannon
        Princess Leia singing

The only part I can't watch the soft porn Grandpa watches.

It is a Holiday must. Which reminds me, I haven't forced my kids to watch it yet this year. Looks like I know what Lily and Eleanor are doing tomorrow!

I love it. I admit to rose colored nostalgia goggles, but you get some really awesome looks at the Cantina Aliens, the original cast, McQuarrie designs, the excellent cartoon (and not just for Boba Fett), and a good hearty helping of good intentions for kid viewers, with that magical pre-Empire innocence.

Plus, you get a lot of fluff to fast forward.

I can watch it, but only ten minutes at a time.
But it's no longer my least-favorite SW movie, which is great!

I agree, Werewolf and Brue - it's really about par for these thing at the time - at least from my memory.

Personally, I don't have a problem with it. Please excuse the pun, but I think the existence of this special brings Star Wars a bit down to earth. I love a few of the Star Wars movies, but they are just movies - and there are LOTS OF GREAT MOVIES. I think a lot of fans get too fanatical and forget that, for some reason.

It's also a whole lot better watching it in this quality instead of a migraine inducing VHS copy that was re-copied a thousand times - which is how I saw this the first time in the early 90s.

I first saw it during its initial broadcast as a kid, and I've always kind of loved it.
There's something magical about seeing the original cast reprising their roles in that period between SW and Empire.
There are even a couple of deleted scenes from SW in there.
One of the highlights is indeed the Nelvana animated segment, and I also loved seeing Chewie's family on Kashyyyk.
                PUNY HUMANS!

We had our annual viewing yesterday. We did skip the Grandpa watching porn scene, and fast forward some slower parts. Still love it.
Fortunately I received a copy on DVD with similar quality to the one posted 10 years ago from a guy I traded rare Superhero movies with.
