Classic Gwen Stacy commision by Ron Frenz

Holidays have been killing me so it was nice when this showed up in my mailbox, "classic" Gwen Stacy by Ron Frenz. Gwen has always been a favorite of mine and having seen Ron do a "flashback" style story somewhat recently made me think he'd be a good choice. The fact that coloring it was just slightly more, made it an easy one. Very happy with how this came out and that's it's fairly unique. Most of the Gwen commsions I've seen are either shall we say "adult" or revolve around her death.

Very nice! I always enjoyed his 80s run on Spider-Man. He also did the on screen comic panel artwork for Creepshow 2.

Beautiful! Frenz has always been my second favorite Spidey artist after Romita.

Nobody can do the Hobgoblin like Ron Frenz...he OWNS that character.

Super nice piece!! Most assuredly captures the innocent spirit of Gwen Stacy from the 70s. That will look really great with a nice mat and frame job!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Frenz's art was a running joke among my friends and I during his Secret Wars run. It was often pretty sloppy and looked rushed..

^Frenz didn't do Secret Wars. That was Mike Zeck.

I've always loved Frenz's stuff. He could equally evoke Ditko in Spidey and Kirby in Thor, while still bringing a fresh dynamic too it.

The fact that he drew "The Kid Who Collected Spider-Man" gives him TONS of cred in my mind, anyhow.

Ugh, I knew it didn't feel right when I was typing it. My apologies!

I read all those 80s Frenz Spidey titles, and I was a fan. Obviously he had a great Sal Buscema influence, but I recall watching his style quickly develop and being very impressed.

Sorry about the confusion, it's tough to access these 30+ yr old memories these days..
