My list is very similar to yours...except I’d place Batman 1989 over Mask of Phantasm because it made more of an impact on me. But Phantasm is great in its own right as well (despite being animated). I’d also place Batman Returns over the slightly bloated Dark Knight Rises. I loved the dark weirdness of Burton’s Batman Returns.

But make no mistake...like you, I think The Dark Knight is a masterpiece.

he said nine movies, if you are going to add in Mask of the Phantasm I would drop B&R out altogether. that movies was pure garbage. although the kids always like it. otherwise I pretty much agree with Goblin as well

            1.) The Dark Knight
            2.) Batman Begins
            3.) Batman vs. Superman

None of the others exist for me...I've blanked them all out. That said...I do have a fondness for Batman:The movie(1966)because I grew up with it.

I didn't want to include it because it was animated (you can throw Lego Batman in that camp as well) and I only saw it once over 20 years ago. But I knew someone would rank it in the list. While not a hit at the theater, It has developed a cult status over the years and deserves a revisit by me.

How did I forget Lego Batman? And I have a Lego obsessed daughter!

I'd rank Lego Batman right under Batman 89 in my list. Or maybe even slightly above!

I want action, big fight scene, lots of FX. The more characters you have, the better your chances of meeting these BASIC qualifications, making any movie about a single character with no powers (with fancy effects) worth the effort to bother with.

                      Batman (1989)
                      Batman the movie (1966)
                      Batman Returns
                      Batman Begins
                      Batman Forever
                      Batman and Robin
                      The Dark Knight
                      Batman v Superman
                      Dark Knight Rises

I don't like the Dark Knight, never saw Rises, but I like Begins. Didn't make it thru BvS. Batman and Robin is watchable if viewed as a comedy.

Batman 1966 - Do I need to explain? A Batman for all ages, for all walks of life.
                              .
                              .
                              .
Batman 89/ Batman Returns - I like them both. 89 is a bit clumsy in spots, but the performances elevate it. Returns gets ripped on for being a full-on Burton film. Well, yeah, that's the point of it.
                              .
                              .
Batman Forever - Tommy Lee Jones was clearly just trying to ape Nicholson's Joker. It's a shame they didn't follow through with Billy Dee Williams, because he would've been brilliant.
                              .
                              .
Batman & Robin - On paper, this one reads most like a 66 Batman story. But it's all in the delivery. I like it because it's cartoonish and colorful. But it's a shame the score and sound compete enough to give me a headache.

                              .
                              .
                              .

                              .
                              .

                              .
                              .

The Dark Knight Rises - Yes, I enjoy this one more than Dark Knight. I dunno. I think there's a charm in that it takes itself so seriously when there are some unintentionally hilarious moments in it.
                              .
                              .
The Dark Knight - This movie has great sound design, and is well crafted. It just wasn't made for me. Why so serious indeed?

                              .
                              .
Batman Begins - I've seen it 2 or 3 times, and I just can't remember much from it that thrilled me.

I can't really rank the animated movies in there. Even Mask of the Phantasm. Apples to oranges. It's like ranking musicals in with films.
