No KK vs G ? ... that's my favorite one

BTW, were these movies shot on 35 mm ?

I always thought they were shot on 16 mm ... and if so not sure how much better they can get above regular DVD quality.

      Wow... that looks amazing.

Confession: I did NOT grow up on Godzilla. Is it too late to start? These colorful ones look like they'd appeal to me most. Any top five recommendations?

For a beginner i'd recommend 1956 Godzilla : King of Monsters

It's the original 1954 first movie re-edited and re-dubbed for English audiences

Perfect place to start --- note: it's in black and white

Thanks, Mikey. Oddly, that's the only one I've seen. It was, as Jason put it in a Plaid Stallions podcast, surprisingly melancholy. Well done, but not what you first think of when Godzilla comes to mind. I'm excited to dive in... I love colorful movies. The more garish, the better.

Destroy All Monsters, G VS MechaGodzilla, War of the Gargantuas, Rodan, any of the Ghidorah movies are all good ones. I'd avoid Son of for sure

After that it's gotta be King Kong vs Godzilla.

It's the Yellow Submarine of Zilla movies

Kong and KK Escapes are not part of the group due to shared rights.

                Also Missing:
Godzilla v Gigan aka Monster Island
                Smog Monster

Smog has always been a rights issue for some reason. Don't know why Gigan was separated out as that's usually a bookend with Mecha-G.

I found Hedorah really frightening as a kid and it still creeps me out.

I'm ecstatic about Rodan...of all the G-Monsters, he's always been my favorite. I actually think the original Rodan is a better film than the original Godzilla.

Even though I've seen Gargantua's a million times I've never seen Frankie

TV just never plays that one.
