Boo! Forgotten Halloween Special from 1980

I'm excited to find that somebody finally posted this Canadian Halloween variety special from 1980. This initially aired on CBC and was produced by the creator of one of my favourite series "Hilarious House of Frightenstein". I saw this as a wee lad and never forgot it. Cartoon fans will recognize Peter Cullen as the Wolfman and Rip Taylor is the imported talent.

Not surprising, it's terrible, like "Star Wars Holiday Special" bad.

    Enjoy.

Surprised I didn't come across this while looking for old Halloween specials this year. My daughter and I watched the Jeff Goldblum Sleepy Hollow, The Halloween That Almost Wasn't, The Great Bear Scare, Halloween is Grinch Night, and Disney's Halloween Treat. She couldn't make it through Witch's Night Out.

Oh wow, this looks awesome upon a cursory scroll through. It may be terrible, but there's a lot right about it. When monsters were Monsters.

I see the werewolf is dressed like Oliver Reed's Leon from Hammer's Curse of the Werewolf. Amazing how influential that movie became with the blousy shirt and cumberbund.

I have only the vaguest memory of this... I think I watched at least some of it back when it first aired.

My first reaction upon seeing it now... Damn, the Countessa is hot!

Just watched the first 10 minutes...and I totally agree!!! Yowza!

I have to say the production values on this are better than the Star Wars Holiday Special. That opening bit with the coffin looked like a Hammer movie on video tape.

Is that a pre-BTTF Lea Thompson in the coffee commercial at 9:50? I am 10 minutes in and already I'm am hooked enough to keep watching. How did I miss this in the early 80s? This would have been as high on my list as the Legends of the Superheroes specials.

The budget looked decent for the time. Nice sets and costumes and then they ended up doing that with it? I don't really get it.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Just watched the whole thing, wow, it's gorgeous looking but totally laughless. i just keep picturing Rip Taylor and Dionne Warwick sitting in the Toronto Airport saying "What was that?".

It's nice to see Dionne Warwick was working as a psychic all those years ago.
