    Twins of Evil

Cindy and I take a deep dive into one of Hammer's best, 1971's Twins of Evil!

Included in the discussion is the rather familiar theme music. Sounds a bit...Justice League...doesn't it?

Well, Bruce Timm DOES like his Hammer Hotties...

The podcast where a certified comic/sci-fi/fantasy geek actually gets his wife to co-host a show with him! Dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria! Join Chris and Cindy Franklin on their bi-weekly journey through all things geeky. They'll discuss comics, movies, TV shows, books, toys...anything and everything geeks love to gab about.

It's risen toward the top of my Hammer list, even bypassing The Vampire Lovers!

I didn't get to see it until last year, but I instantly wanted to podcast about it, so here we are!

Oh, it's definitely Top Tier. Chris, I don't need another podcast to listen to, but I think you may have convinced me.

Great film, I don't think I've seen it since I used to own it on VHS though, I need to revisit!

The music from that scene is on the CD. So funny.

Any fans of the redheaded stepchild in the Karnstein Trilogy: Lust for a Vampire? It gets a lot of hate, but darned if I can understand why.

Yeah I can't stand it either. It's been a long time since I watched it but I found it meandering with some laughably bad moments (camera pans away to girl stroking candlestick) and ended with the phoniest dummy this side of an Ed wood film.

Oddly, I hear it's the closest to the book.

^I haven't seen it yet, and we mention that in the episode. Part of it is because it does get so dumped on. I also don't want to see ALL the Hammer movies all at once. I want to leave gem to be discovered.

But it's nice to hear someone stand up for it. Gives me hope for it.

Vampire Lovers is probably closer to the source material of Carmilla than about any adaption of Dracula is to Stoker's original version. I've read the original many times, and I was shocked at how close the two synced up.

Oh, and the candle-stroking bit is actually in Twins of Evil! It's the only laughably bad part of the movie, I think.

I've seen The Vampire Lovers and Twins of Evil, but ages ago. I can't say I recall the films well, and the "scenery" didn't make me appreciate the films more. But to be fair, I don't expect most Hammer fans to find Barry Andrews an engaging aspect of an offering like Dracula Has Risen From the Grave, either.

Is Vampire Lovers considered the classic adaptation, or does that fall to Blood and Roses?

Hammer had some handsome guys too, for sure. Especially as they went along, and started making the heroes and heroines younger. Twins has David Warbek, who was almost James Bond until Roger Moore became available.

^According to most accounts I've read, Vampire Lovers is the closer adaptation, but I haven't seen Blood and Roses yet, so I can't say for myself.
