    I remember seeing them in Shop Rite grocery stores too. they were definitely readily available.

      I remember picking up a set of these on clearance around 1990. Cool figures but I ended up selling or trading them at some point.

        Kaybee toys, in Evansville, always put the Ertl action figures in an isle on the far left side of the store, away from the other action figures that where in the center.

          I used to go to my local Shop Rite often with me mum and all I remember seeing is Scrunchy Bears

            I'm not even sure what that is, LOL

            yeah, the Shop Rite we had in town often had cool toys. I remember in the late eighties finding a bunch of Action Jackson's and uniforms. I couldn't believe it

              These were probably the best 3.75 inch Trek figures ever done. The GI Joe construction made it easy to swap Joe heads to make plenty of 'redshirts' and you could even get an extra Mego McCoy to swap heads too.

                Great article. I have always liked these from afar. I never saw the figures, but found the Ertl ships at Kings Island amusement park of all places. This was a good decade before Paramount bought them too, so I don't know why they were in one of the gift shops. I got the Bird of Prey and the Excelsior. They were out of the Enterprise.
