Loved GN'FnR from the first time I heard them and bought both 1 and 2 the first weekend it was out. It was hoped that those albums could bring back the popularity of pop metal the way Appetite did in '87. Alas, it was not to be. I've often wondered if trimming the two albums down to one would have made a difference. Instead of two good albums, they released one really great one.
Anyway, this came out during my first year of Kubert school and there are A LOT of great memories tied into that album for me.Last edited by CrimsonGhost; Sep 17, '17, 9:04 PM.Expectation is the death of discovery.Comment

I was a huge GNR fan, I bought Appetite before it really hit big and it's still one of my favorite albums (and IMO one of the finest debut albums ever). It was a long wait for Use Your Illusion 1 & 2, I bought them the day they came out and while they were pretty good, they weren't as good as their debut and there was a lot of filler (compared to Appetite, which is solid from beginning to end). Still, there is some good stuff on the pair, especially the long epic songs and Izzy's contributions. Can't believe it's been twenty-six years!Comment

I'm with you. never liked them or saw the appeal. Okay, they have 1 or 2 songs I don't mind when they come on the radio. but I never really cared for them and certainly never bought one of their albums or tickets to see them. in fact, Rose is such a prima donna I would not buy tickets even if I did like themComment

Nice,wow time flies!!!
Bought them when they came out.
Appetite is also still one of my favourite today as well.“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”Comment

Music is so subjective isn't it?
Appetite was a punch in the gut for this suburban teen. So much better than the "Warrant/Poison" stuff going around, it kind of propelled me to seek out harder bands and getting me into metal/thrash/punk/rap phases. I think of it as a near perfect album.
BUT i had a diminishing return on everything afterwards, I bought them but it just didn't ever come close for me. I found the double album excessive and full of fat, I just didn't dig it at all. I've never listened to the "Spaghetti Incident" and probably never will.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions
