I was a bit alarmed to discover one of the few vintage Megos I own (a boxed Type 1 Captain America) has suffered a cracked left forearm which is now in pieces, even though he hasn't been touched in ages. Rather than replace the whole body, is it somehow possible to replace just the forearm (I have a few loose T1 arms)? I have my doubts, given the metal rivets, but thought I'd ask the experts before throwing in the towel. Thanks in advance!

I have replaced whole limbs on my Spider-Man that is a type 1. I had to replace an arm and a leg but as far as the robots go it is far easier to just replace a limb -

restringing is simple after your first try. first try is still not too tough.
get some elastic string at a gift shop or craft store. or look around yu place -every toy hoarder has some elastic laying around somewhere.
gently pry out the head.
cut the old string (note how it is tied or look for tutorial on MM.
lace new string (start at one arm, end at the other.
stretch it, tie it.
twist/push head back in.Comment

I think re-stringing is fun actually. It makes me feel like that guy from toy story, there is a tutorial on the main museum page somewhere and I believe some videos as well.Comment
