    Harry Dead Stanton -- RIP

One of the best character actors ever -- has died. He was 91. Among so many of his roles, I loved him in "Alien." About two years ago, he graciously signed through the mail an 8x10 photo of the classic scene where the alien's claw was coming for his face (before it killed him). Great actor...........

** I meant to say Harry DEAN Stanton. Although, I am sure people knew that anyhow.........

91 is pretty dang good. Especially for a smoker!

Loved him in so many different things. I watched The Wrong Man a while back, and apparently he's in it briefly. Didn't catch him though.

Just noticed your typo. That's pretty funny when you think about it.

I really enjoyed him as an actor, tons of his movies are high on my list of favorites. I'm happy he seemed to continue working until the end, he will be missed.

Quite the epic run through decades of artful adventures. Thanks Harry!

… it's been a notable a week of loss to say the least.

Sad news. A consistently entertaining actor in all of his many roles over the decades. R.I.P.

You can never go wrong with Repo Man! His best roll in my opinion...

I remember him from several westerns, both tv and movies. He certainly stayed relevant after the decline of the westerns, he was in many genres. I was surprised over the past few years to see him in so many. True stamina you rarely see today. Partly, I think, because of the huge salaries actors make that puts them in multi-millionaire status so quickly, and they don't need to work, and partly due to hollywood's and media's in general current obsession with youth. Or young actors/celebrities, like anyone over 30 or 40 is no longer relevant so it seems today.

                    R.I.P. Another one gone.

Here's an early one with him in it from Gunsmoke. Only a few deputies left from the show (most notably - blacksmith Quint Asper)

Marvelous character actor, the sort I admire most. RIP sir.

Mr. Stanton is on TCM right now in a supporting role in Cool Hand Luke.

Huge fan. Loved him as an actor, and as a musician. Loved everything about the guy. He did things his way.

He's one I'll miss. He was great in Wild At Heart and Repo Man. Glad Debbie Harry was finally able to dance with him.

Doing justice to my favorite Bukowski poem:
You are transparent; I see many things... I see plans within plans.

Dude, that Bukowski poem kills me. I've got a broadside of that hanging in my office.
