    My version of "Fonzie's Garage"

Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE Happy Days! I love the happy Days mego's, the bike and the jalopy but I never cared for the Garage mego sold. Those pics were boring and not at all screen accurate. And given I'll never be able to afford one, I decided to make my own.

Here we are. All art by me from scratch, solely based on google searches for reference pics.

For props, I added a water cooler (thank you dental floss container), a garbage can and a tool box I got at the craft store for four bucks.

    Hope ya's like it.

And one for the road. Now to find an old jalopy to display in it.

I've been sitting here taking in the photos and truly digging what you have created. I love the oil stains on the floor....nice touch!

      Two questions:
      1) Who are the gals in the pinups?

      and

      2) What made you opt for modern plastic fluid containers and tools alongside the old-school stuff like a bakelite radio and payphone? (that's not a criticism because I think it's inspired grooviness. I love the subtle, deliberate anachronistic touches I see in movies and TV shows and I'm aware enough to spot them and appreciate the touch. However, I am far too literal to be able to think to incorporate it like you have done here. I wish I were, though, because it works and it's groovy when done like you did with this. You nailed it.)

Thanks for the kind words and observations. The chicks were courtesy of a google search for fifties babes. 😉
The other modern stuff was me not paying attention to the era. It's a toy for fun and I basically googled a bunch of stuff like "car fluid" or "gas container" etc and didn't get myself too fussed with the details.
The signs on the wall were given much effort to keep screen accurate and I'm happy with how they turned out.

You may think you weren't paying attention, but I'd argue that you may have been, on some level, and I'll tell you why I think that. Bakelite radios are making a comeback. All that kind of retro stuff is, but an old Quaker State can (vice plastic) might look a little too out of place today. There are other mixes with the tools. I"m sure the Germans or Japanese have a word for pulling it off when you may not have been aiming for it or making things work well together that shouldn't work together, at all, according to the rules. You walked a fine line and it worked! I don't want to belabor the point, but you did something I couldn't do...intentionally or not, and I find it pleasing and fascinating. Something I really appreciated and wanted to say so.
