A trivia contest for four sets of new MegoMeet '17 Oz cards! The first member to message me with the complete correct answers to a question will receive a set--but you can only win once. I'll post winners and answers as applicable.
The Wizard of Oz, though now much-beloved, had a turbulent and varied production history. The trivia questions that follow reflect that production process.
*1. ANSWERED. Several characters had actors that were either seriously considered, approached, or actually cast. Name the alternate actors that might have or did play the following parts:
a) Dorothy
b) Tin Man
c) The Wizard
d) The Wicked Witch
*2. ANSWERED. The film had several directors at different times of filming. Besides credited director Victor Fleming, name the other three.
*3. ANSWERED. The red-sequined Ruby Slippers are a famous icon from the film.
a) But ruby slippers are not in L. Frank Baum's original Oz story--what magical footwear does Dorothy wear in the book?
b) What subsequent film, now a cult classic to Oz fans, had to obtain special permission from MGM to depict the ruby slippers?
*4. ANSWERED. The Wicked Witch has some other talismans and familiars only hinted at in the film, but directly or indirectly inspired by the book:
a) What magical item, briefly presented to the Witch by monkey general Nikko in the film, is worn in the book by the Witch to control the Flying Monkeys?
b) What pest, depicted in a deleted dance number and perhaps inspired by a swarm of bees in the book, does the Witch mention she sends "to take the fight out of" Dorothy and her comrades in the forest before the monkeys' attack?
Have fun!
(And BTW, I need PS card #1 Evel Knieval and #30 Kenner Alien.)
