Ours was a Franklin Ace 1000 (Apple ][ clone) that I got a lot of use out of. Not surprisingly, my dad paid a lot for the computer but would never pay for licenced versions of software. As a result, I got to almost finishing a game and then the disk drive would start grinding and throw up and error message. No game saves in those days. Also, many a junior high social report disappeared as a result of our pirated word processing program.

The second one was a wintel 386 or 486. Not nearly as much fun.

Both of mine were Dells. First one came with ME,that was a headache with it crashing quite a bit. Second one had XP which was way better. Using an HP laptop now. The only drawback with this is there's a short somewhere in the monitor.

Oh man, I remember the Sinclair, my cousin had one. It's cardboard keyboard wasn't very good for typing on.

My first was an 8086, I think a Packard Bell.

Second was a Gateway (cow box!) 386.

I remember the first one. Must have been 1988, and it was a Sinclair ZX-81, not sure but I believe it was made in the UK. No particular fond memory about it, other than a couple of b&w games.

My first one was a Timex Sinclair 1000. I was not very fond of it. It seemed more like a glorified calculator hooked up to a TV than a real computer.

The next year I got a Commodore Vic-20, and that, I loved. I used to design my own simple games and animations for it, hours and hours of fun.

Apple I wanna say around 1987ish...My mom would make a huge deal if we were not playing with it because she would say my dad spent a fortune on it. I recently asked my dad how much it cost and he said it was $500 and he got it used from a friend at work

I'm still keeping this one alive (HP Pavillion W5000), I've had it since 1998, and it's still running. It has had some Frankenstein-style work done to it...
Fingers crossed, because if it dies, I'm back to carrier pigeons...
