    SDCC 17 Sideshow Batman

Photos of the DC Comics statues and figures from the Sideshow Collectibles display at San Diego Comic-Con 2017. Includes items from Sideshow, Iron Studios, and Prime 1 Studio.

Is this Perfect Batman really a 1/6 figure, or is that Sideshow speak for figurine? Click the pic to see the upclose. It's Charlee Flatt's dream come true.

it says sixth scale on the sign, so must be. Looks nice, but I am sure its overpriced and fragile where you have to wear gloves to touch it like the 66 Batman.

The stitching in his top looks like the Spider-man color separation lines. Just add webs...

Batman Classic? Here's where I get lost... Isn't a "Classic Batman" supposed to have the black bat in yellow oval emblem?

This was one I wasn't really interested in until I saw it in person. Then I ended up pre-ordering!

Man, I thought it was one of the half dozen that already went up, but it doesn't look like it! Let's alter that to "I'll be pre-ordering as soon as I can!" :D

Batman debuted in 1939. The yellow oval emblem didn't appear until 1964. For the first 25 years of Batman's existence, he wore a black bat on his chest similar to the one pictured on the new 'classic' Batman Sideshow figure.

Is this a fantastic looking figure? Absolutely no question but I wouldn't refer to it as 'Classic'? No. If we use, for example, an automobile classification for what can be termed 'Classic' the two options most valuers, collectors and museums use as a gauge is either something made between 1925 and 1948. Taking something from around the middle period means a 'Classic' Batman is a kinda Kane/Finger original look. The other yardstick is a vehicle that is between 25 and 50 years old. If we apply this to the figure you need to consider an image of Batman from between around 1967 and 1992. In the middle of that is Batman from about 1979. If you then decide to go for something somewhere in the middle of both 'classic' gauges you get a date of around 1959/60. This figure is beautifully realised but to me does not in anyway reflect what most would consider 'Classic'. I would happy accept any of the following as 'Classic' interpretations of the character though Kane/Finger, Sprang, Infantino, Adams or artists of around those periods and I think most guys into this stuff would too.
