    T Shirts: 1977

Looking at this selection of adult t-shirts, I'm amazed by a few things 1) How much merchandise based on "The Shadow" was made in the mid 1970s 2) The whole CB thing and 3) Sears clearly owes Robert Crumb some money. For more Fashion Mockery and 70's toy love visit us at Plaid Stallions.com

I would wear that Shadow shirt today. But yeah, other than the comic...why all the 70s Shadow merchandise? Did Conde Nast get a really aggressive marketing guy at the time?

You know, you just reminded me that the Shadow Logo appears in almost every toy trade publication during the 1970s in the classified section. So they had a really aggressive licensing rep at that time for sure.

I wonder if the demand for Superhero merch (which was pretty golden in 76) some how had toy manufacturers scrambling for characters they could license. It would explain all the Phantom/Flash Gordon rack toys that got made during those periods.

I use to love going to the 1-shirt transfer shop in the mall...You could pick one of those glittery transfers off the wall and they would put it on a t-shirt right there for you...One that I had that comes to mind is Luke and C-3PO standing on Tatooine...you can get them now at some online shop, but they're much more expensive now...

I use to love going to the t-shirt transfer shop in the mall years ago...you could pick one of those glittery transfers off the wall and have it put on a t-shirt right there...I remember one I had was Luke and C-3PO standing on Tatooine and 3PO is pointing or something...
