I'll be the Brady nerd to point this out: No Sherwood Schwartz attached to this version supposedly had a lot to do with Reed's decision.

That and he was very fond of "the kids", so I would imagine that played into it as well.

^ You beat me to it. I was about to say the same thing. I would bet that his being so fond of Florence and the kids lent to his participation. Hell, he did Family Feud with them in the early 80's.
