True story. Wow. Jim Croce's and Harry Chapin's styles always reminded me of each others. love this song.

Wow, this Harry song and his "A Better Place To Be" are a bit gut wrenching.

Glad someone brought up Harry Chaplin. Jim Croce's a fine singer/songwriter, but for my money, you can't beat Harry Chapin, a MASTER singer/songwriter. Granted, most people are only really familiar with "Cats in the Cradle" and "TAXI," both undeniably great songs, but his music catalog goes so much deeper and richer than just those two. For your listening pleasure, and without further ado, some more Hump Day Harry...

"Taxi" and "Sequel" are two thirds of an unfinished trilogy. After reading a lot about the man and his music, he was in the beginning stages of the third song when he had the accident that claimed his life and deprived the world of one of its great musical social commentators.

Harry's views on natural gifts and talents and how easily they can be crushed by few unkind words of others who cannot do something, so instead they become critics...

A song that always reminds me of how truly fleeting time is. Goes faster the older I get. Parents didn't lie, damn it...

The events and story of this song are sad and traumatic, but it's still one of my faves...

                            Finally....

If I were a director, I would jump on the chance to turn this song into a short film.

Wildfire is great! Here's a more recent performance of it on Letterman. Dave became obsessed with the song and the subsequently got Michael Martin Murphey in to perform it. He nails it here. Awesome!
