A Salute to Canadian Toy Packaging

It's not a closely guarded secret that I'm Canadian. So on the day of my country's 150th birthday, it seems duly patriotic that i share my favourite toys in Canadian packaging.

Due to having two official languages, we had different toy packages than the US and brother, it's tough to find. Hunting these is my obsession because there is no better whallop of nostalgia for me, enjoy!

Wow, very cool. So, is Star Trek basically "Cosmic Patrol" in French?

    Happy Birthday, Canada!!!

I didn't know that one, I did know that we got Stepponwolfe on the card. I spent a Christmas sending CASES of those to US dealers once.

Love that and all of the examples are truly great toys, in my opinion.

Very cool feature for our 150th!

It's interesting that for example, back in the 90's Star Wars collectors looked down on Canadian packaging as inferior, but now it's desirable. They finally realized how scarce the Canadian stuff was in comparison to the US packaging (especially the oddball stuff like the Sears shrink wrapped cards and the Canadian "transition cards" that are worth a bundle now).

Cool... Remember some of those bilingual packaging variations from when I was a kid.
Still have my Kenner Canada Death Star box which says Station Spatiale de L'etoile de la Mort on the other side.

Don't get me started with Can packaging vs US packaging.

YES, US loses EVERY TIME !!!

I'm Canadian and bilingual. When I was little, I was always proud that I understood the translation and pronounciations on the Canadian Mego / Parkdale / Grand Toys (&even France's Pin Pin) packages. It is why I also lurk on the http://megocorp.xooit.fr/index.php site.
**Some of my favourite finds are the Spider-Man -Hulk Canadian packages: Pure perfection :-)
