I think the most charitable explanation for the Grundy sculpt is that they were going for a Mike Sekowsky inspired version of the character as he appeared in the 60s Silver Age JSA revival. Of course there is no rational reason for the size of his head. Hopefully we'll get a second shot at a better Super Friends version of Grundy, preferably on a larger muscle body.

Like the Trickster and Boomerang? Ugghh. He looked pretty good, too. I wish they would stop with the nonsense. Its not like these are cheap little items, 30 bucks for what amounts to cutting corners and settling for whatever the factory sends you is a bit much.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that FTC's Muscular Body is taller than Mego's Hulk/Thing body ?

FTC/CTVT offer two muscular male bodies. "Muscular body" is around the size of the original 1/9th Hulk and Thing. "Muscular Deluxe body" is FTC's version of the custom taller muscle body produced by Dr. Mego.

Truth is, this figure is so bad, it makes every FTC failure to-date, look better by comparison. I'm not sure that's a good thing.

Someone mentioned he has no use as custom fodder. I have him pegged for one half of my Jon/Ponch Zombie Halloween special. I have plenty of wrecked CHiPs clothes.

And those oversized heads tend to zombie a lot.

I'm going to go against the grain here by saying for Grundy, I don't think it is a bad head. If they put it on the bigger muscular male body I think the bigger head will fit the character. It will also make him look a bit taller than the others which is what is needed for Grundy. Once dressed, I think it will look OK for a Super Friends Grundy.

I like some of what FTC does with their figures (and I fall into the I'm just glad to finally get some of the figures that I always wanted as a kid camp), but, yeah...this was a total miss. Hopefully the SF version will be better thought out.
