First rerooting attempt

I picked up a complete rerooting kit from Diana and Seth of The Doll Planet and plan to turn a repro Thor into Doc Samson!



They were nice enough to give me a hands-on demonstration at Mego Meet, so I have some confidence I can do it.

Today was step one, give Thor a haircut.

I'm so excited to see how he turns out! <3
It shouldn't take more than 3/10 of an ounce for his head, so you should have more than enough.
If you haven't started rerooting yet, I would recommend doing a quick dry brush of green on his scalp. It's optional, but it helps prevent any part of the scalp peeking through all that pretty green hair.

Since most of time I re-root to create a drastically different character, the head typically has a different hair style so I paint the "shape" of the new style. Every time I do Storm, I paint her widow's peak on because it's much lower than Uhura's hair line and if I don't have a pattern to follow it then her widow's peak gets off center.

The secret to mine is that Amy Dove did the hair. Otherwise I have no doubt I would have butchered it.

The hardest part is styling or doing more elaborate things when re-rooting like bangs or pigtails.
Re-rooting a general style isn't that hard. And if anyone can figure it out, PM Wasson can!

I need to bug her for pictures! I love seeing what other people create! And yes, re-rooting can be addicting. Cheaper than a designer purse addiction! And one that you can actually benefit from too!

I'm so glad you to see others do this. After re-rooting several of these guys... I'm happy not doing it.
