My brothers were way into his show before anyone else was, years and years ago. My son discovered it on Netflix and found it kinda quieting and meditative (and a little wacky form time to time, in a good way). He has almost the same hair as Ross and decided to be Bob Ross this past Halloween. My wife and daughter call the show him boring and irritating . . .

What always amazes me is how he knows in his head exactly what he wants the picture to be -- for me, there's almost always a moment in the show when he just has this mass of colors sectioned all over the canvas, and then he comes in with the small brush and lays in a couple lines or highlights and BAM! the whole landscape just appears.

The fact that he painted a good chunk of his work with a PALETTE KNIFE still rocks my mind.

Being fans, we looked into getting an original Bob Ross for our house once, despite the breadth of his work it's ridiculously cost prohibitive.
